THE SITUATION: web3 + immersive technologies will transform our lives

THE STAKES: we must work hard to build an open metaverse for all

THE GOAL: to ensure the metaverse is accessible to all + controlled by no one

In my weekly newsletters, I’ll break down some of the emerging trends and exciting developments in web3; particularly looking at how blockchain/crypto and immersive technologies are showing us new ways we can organise and share stories as a united species in the open metaverse.

We want to build an open metaverse. Accessible to all; controlled by no one. We need to learn from the past (web1/web2) and speculate on how this new era of digital identity can be healthy, empowering, and led by the thriving creative community around the planet.

The alternative? When the ships land in 5877AD and plug their USB-shaped heads into the net to understand what happened to this long-lost civilisation of bipedal mammals, they will fail to read beyond the famous episode of Eastenders where the train crashes into the church and causes the dinosaurs to escape into the Tesla factory, and quickly pass us off as a cosmic fart worth no further study.
